General Assembly: Speed Run!

For the first time in a while, the semester’s most important meeting at Samfunnet, the General Assembly, was held physically on November 1st. Though everyone was glad to be able to take part in a normal assembly again, it was still over exceptionally quickly.

Record time?

Not surprisingly, both the work program and budgets for next year were adopted without major problems. This efficiency also characterized the rest of the evening, or should I say afternoon? The whole program concluded in under four hours thanks to great moderators, a good schedule, and not least, no objections to anything.

Easy elections

Then it came time to elect various positions in Samfunnet. The selections for new committee heads of the bodega, the concert unit, the administration,

the Business Committee (Næringsutvalget, or NU), administration coordinator, in NU, and marketing manager of NU were simple since there was only one candidate for each position. However, several candidates applied for the position of marketing manager at Samfunnet. After all the candidates had given their speeches and the votes had been counted, Harald Vie Pettersen walked away with the victory. There was also a fight for the two external representative positions of the House and Finance Board. One of the candidates, Erik Sand, argued that he was not an economist, and it clearly struck a chord as he was elected as the first external representative.

The new editor of Tuntreet will be Sofie Bergset Janols, who is looking forward to starting as editor after the new year. “You should be able read about the important things, fun initiatives, cases, and illustrations you can sit and look at for a long time.”

Hans Hovenhet Hestehoven?

Something that received little attention was the amendment to the articles of association on “Hans Hovenhet Hestehoven” (HHH). Maybe it was because of the light-colored text against a white background on the projector. Or maybe because many don’t have a strong relationship to this order. HHH is the order of honor of the student society in Ås just like H.M. Pinnsvinet (“Hedgehog”) in Bergen and H.M. den Gylne Gris (“The Golden Pig”) in Oslo. Among the members include the king and Gro Harlem Brundtland, but the majority consists of students from Ås. The amendment to the articles of association makes it so that representatives of the order college must be approved by the General Assembly. This has been a long-standing request, but now s the first time it will become enacted. Maybe it will nevertheless give some life to the old order college that was started in 1938?

Otherwise, there was a birthday song for the leader of Samfunnet, Hedda Mejlænder Larsen, and the pea soup corporals did a good job with the soup. Ten out of ten.
